Join us for Saturday workshops of tech-focused excitement!

We are hosting introductory and intermediate workshops using different tech platforms with a focus on programming, looping in relevant and current applications, and showing the exciting possibilities of the tech industry through digital skills literacy! These events will all be hosted ONLINE. We ask that you still register via the register now button above so that we have an accurate count of attendees. Information about the online platform and access will be sent out via email prior to the event.

For Grades 4 – 9, we are offering two levels: level 1 is for students who have little or no experience with coding and level 2 is for students who have some or a lot of experience with coding and/or block coding. For Grade 9 – 12, the event is open to all levels. All events are free of cost – you will need a device (laptop or desktop computer) at home in order to participate.

Event Descriptions

Explore technology in a fun and creative environment. In this event, you will be able to learn the fundamental tech and coding skills needed to create your own games. You will be guided by UBC undergraduates on the foundations of the gaming world.

The level 1 event is designed for students who are brand new or quite new to exploring coding, and have little previous experience. Join this event if you’d like an introductory level workshop. This session is well-suited to students in grades 4 - 6, however, we recommend signing up based on your experience level rather than your grade.

The level 2 event is designed for students who have previous experience with coding, especially block coding using Scratch or similar platforms. Join this event if you are already familiar and comfortable with the basics of block coding and would like to participate in an intermediate level event. This session is also well-suited to students in grades 7 - 9, however, we recommend signing up based on your experience level rather than your grade.

Ever wondered what goes on ‘behind the scenes’ of your favorite app? Join us as we explore the fundamental and advanced concepts about apps. In this event, you will combine your technology knowledge with your unique creativity. UBC Students will give you an insight on the foundations of building a successful app.
