Kids & Youth in STEM Video Series

Geering Up is seeking grades 5-12 individuals who have a unique STEM project to highlight as part of a video series. We’re accepting applicants with projects that make a community impact and/or are particularly meaningful to the candidate.
 

Selected nominees will be featured on our Youtube Channel, present at a Geering Up event, and receive free Geering Up camp tuition.
 

What are our Goals?

The goal of this video series is to empower kids and youth in STEM through telling their STEM success stories which have impacted their lives or local communities.

 

What are We looking for?

Would include projects which:

  • Makes a difference in their community
  • Taking a stand on an issue

Interview Questions may include:

  • What do you do? (in the project?)
  • How did the project start?
  • What is your everyday like?/What’s your hobby?
  • Who inspires you? (e.g. parents, peers, public figures, mentors, etc.)
  • Who has helped you make this project happen?
  • What do you think could be improved in your community?
  • Have you run into any barriers in this project? How did they affect your design process?
  • What piece of advice would you give to other kids who want to make an impact?
  • What does STEM mean to you? What do you think STEM means to your community?

Would include projects which:

  • Innovate and unique (ex. an arcade made out of cardboard!)
  • Inspires others to create
  • Are personally meaningful to the candidate, no matter the scale of the project.

Interview Questions may include:

  • Where did this idea come from?
  • What challenges have you run into so far with this project?
  • How long have you been doing this project? How long do you plan on pursuing this project?
  • Why did you use these materials for this project?
  • What does STEM mean to you?
  • Who or what inspires you to keep on working?
