Junior Instructor Program

JUNIOR INSTRUCTOR PROGRAM


Junior Instructors are high school and university student volunteers who support our summer camps, clubs (weekly), and single-day event programs for kids. They will work closely with our instructor team to deliver and share STEM to youth in a hands-on and dynamic learning environment. Junior Instructors are students going into grade 10 and above in September 2020, or are currently pursuing post-secondary education.

Our Junior Instructors support our Instructors in leading one-week-long daily STEM clubs up to 20 youth over the spring. Clubs will be held every week from June 29 - September 4 through online platforms. We are currently recruiting students to assist with one-week-long clubs that will run from 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM every day for one week. We encourage students who will be entering Grade 10 or above in the fall of 2020 or students currently studying their undergraduate degree to apply.

Junior Instructors during our clubs programs will work closely with two instructors to deliver hands-on and engaging STEM programming up to 30 kids anywhere from grades 1 - 7. Our Clubs operate from September-December and January-April at the following locations:

  • UBC Vancouver Campus on Saturday  mornings and afternoons
  • UBC Okanagan Campus on Saturday mornings
  • East Vancouver (various VSB elementary school locations) on weekday afternoons
  • Surrey Libraries on weekday afternoons
  • North Vancouver on Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings

A minimum commitment of one semester of clubs (ex. January-April) is required for Junior Instructors. Within a semester we ask that you commit to at least 7 of the 10 sessions. You will support instructors with delivering activities to youth, engage with kids, and prepare camp materials.
