Camps Summer Roles

 

Before-Care Instructor 

The Before-Care instructor will be responsible for camper check-in and check out to Camps instructors before the start of camps. The instructors will work together to prepare activities, setting up the venue, and leading the children in games. This role will have some training in late June and then hours will be regular 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM from Mondays – Fridays from June 29th – September 4th.

 

After-Care Instructor 

The After-Care instructor will be responsible for camper pick up, and checking out campers from Camp Instructors at the end of the camp day.  The instructors will work together to prepare activities, setting up the venue, and leading the children in games. This role will have some training in late June and then hours will be regular 2:00 PM – 5:30 PM from Mondays – Fridays from June 29th – September 4th.

 

Lunch Facilitator Instructor 

The Lunch Facilitator will be responsible for set-up and take-down of the lunch site. This entails setting up the venue, organizing provided lunches with campus and community partners, and organizing the materials appropriately at the end of the break. This role will have some training in late June and then hours will be regular 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM from Mondays – Fridays from June 29th – September 4th.

 

TRIUMF Tour Guide

TRIUMF Tour Guides will work in pairs to lead tours of the TRIUMF building.

General Summer Roles

 

After Care Student Assistant

The After Care Student Assistant will be responsible for overseeing the After Care program. The After Care program involves overseeing camper pick up, checking out campers from Camp Instructors at the end of the camp day, and providing campers with fun, engaging activities during the program. This role will be part-time starting on May 1. Hours will be regular 2:00 PM – 5:30 PM from Mondays – Fridays from June 29th – September 4th.

 

Materials Student Assistant

This position is an opportunity to gain experience in the field of STEM outreach, supply procurement, and inventory management.

 

Outreach Materials Student Assistant

This position is an opportunity to gain experience in the field of STEM outreach, supply procurement, and inventory management.

 

Participant Data Research Assistant

The Participant Data Research Assistant will aid in the evaluation of Geering Up’s programs. The Assistant will complete data entry, analysis, and compiling for existing camper data.

 

Publicity Student Assistant

The Publicity Student Assistant leads the face of Geering Up. They oversee the website, graphic design, media releases, and public relations.

Safety Officer 

The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety of all campers, volunteers, and the staff during the planning, preparation and execution of science experiments and activities.

 

Social Media Student Assistant 

The Social Media Student Assistant leads the face of Geering Up. They oversee the website, graphic design, media releases, and public relations.

 

Web Development Student Assistant

The Web Development Student Assistant leads the face of Geering Up. They oversee the updating, editing, and management of Geering Up’s web presence.

Quantum Computing Outreach



Graduate Student – Quantum Computing Curriculum Planner

This is a unique opportunity for a Graduate student who has an interest in Quantum Computing to assist in the development and delivery of quantum computing kits for workshops, camps, and professional development programs for teachers.
